What We Install

From a single fusion splice repair to a multi-building campus ring, TCG's fiber team handles every scope — with OTDR test results and as-built documentation delivered on every job.

Fusion Splicing

Low-loss mechanical fusion splicing for long-haul single-mode runs, campus backbone interconnects, and field repair. Every splice OTDR-verified and included in your closeout documentation.

OTDR Testing & Certification

Every run tested end-to-end with OTDR traces, reflectance readings, and splice loss reports. We don't estimate fiber performance — we measure it.

Inside Plant (ISP) Fiber

Plenum-rated and riser-rated fiber runs between MDFs, IDFs, and data center racks. Clean terminations, labeled trays, and tight bend radius compliance throughout.

Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber

Direct-buried, conduit, and aerial fiber for building-to-building campus runs, utility backbone, and remote site connectivity. Gel-filled armored or dry-core based on environment.

Campus Backbone Design & Installation

Multi-building fiber topology — from core routing to distribution nodes. We design the path, pull the fiber, splice the connections, and document every strand.

Fiber Termination & Patch Panel Builds

LC, SC, ST, and MPO connector terminations. Clean patch panel builds with dust caps, bend radius managers, and fiber tray labeling.

Case Study

Multi-Building Campus Fiber Backbone — Southeast Michigan University

An aging 50-pair copper backbone was limiting network throughput across an 8-building campus with no existing fiber. TCG designed and installed a 12-strand OM4 multimode + 12-strand OS2 single-mode campus ring topology. All splices performed with TCG fusion splicers, OTDR-verified end-to-end, with full strand documentation delivered at closeout.

Result: 40G campus switching capacity with room to grow to 100G. Full OTDR documentation, as-built strand schedule, and lifetime guarantee on all TCG workmanship.

Frequently Asked Questions

Multimode fiber (OM3, OM4) is used for shorter runs — typically inside a building or across a campus up to a few hundred meters. Single-mode fiber (OS2) supports much longer distances and higher bandwidth. TCG recommends the right type based on your distance and bandwidth requirements.
Yes. TCG installs outside plant fiber — direct-buried, in conduit, and aerial — across Southeast Michigan and statewide for large utility and government projects. We handle everything from route design through installation, splicing, and OTDR testing.
Fusion splicing uses a machine to precisely align and fuse two fiber ends together, creating a permanent, ultra-low-loss joint (typically under 0.1 dB). Field-installed connectors are faster but introduce higher loss and reflectance. For backbone runs, fusion splicing gives you better long-term performance.
An OTDR sends a pulse of light down a fiber and measures how that light reflects back. The trace shows the location and loss of every event — connectors, splices, bends, breaks — along the entire span. It's the only way to verify a fiber run meets spec from end to end.
Yes. Fiber repair and splice restoration are common service calls for our ServicePAK clients. We assess the break with an OTDR, perform a fusion splice restoration, and re-test to verify the link is performing to spec.
