Structured cabling is a standardized, organized approach to building the physical cabling infrastructure that carries voice, data, video, and other low-voltage signals throughout a facility. Rather than a tangle of point-to-point cables, structured cabling uses a defined topology (typically star) with telecommunications rooms, backbone cabling, and horizontal runs to workstations — all installed to TIA/EIA-568 standards.
